Chesapeake YMCA Meet this Saturday

We have a meet this Saturday being hosted by the Chesapeake YMCA.  Here is a map that also allows you to print directions.  You can download a copy of our entries here. Coach Penny from Chesapeake has been very supportive of the OBX Swim Club.  Good luck swimmers!

Portsmouth YMCA @ OBX Swim Club

The results are in for the OBX Swim Club in their meet against the Portsmouth YMCA which was held on January 9th at the Outer Banks Family YMCA.  Our team results are listed here.

Thanks to Portsmouth for making the trip down to the Outer Banks and we will see you again at the YMCA Championship Meet in April.

The Y Waves are hosting the Summer League Championship Swim Meet on Monday July 26th at the Outer Banks Family YMCA. Warm-ups start at 3:00pm and the meet starts at 4:30pm. Hope to see you there.

Outer Banks Summer Swim League Championship Meet on Monday, July 26th at the Outer Banks Family YMCA

The Y Waves will host the Outer Banks Summer Swim League Championship Meet on Monday July 26. The meet will be held at the indoor pool. Warm ups begin at 3:00 and the meet will begin at 4:30.

Warm up schedules:

Y Waves - 3:00 to 3:30

Colington Harbor - 3:30 to 4:00

Duck Woods Country Club - 4:00 to 4:30

Bring your folding chair and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!

News from Coach Laura

I hope everyone had a great time at the meet on Monday. I was very proud of all our swimmers! It looks like all the hard work at the pool has paid off!! Thanks to all the parents who helped, too. Ribbons can be picked up at practice on Thursday, July 15.

Our end of the season party will be on Thursday, July 22 at 6:00 PM. We will be making posters for the meet coming up on Monday, July 26 with Duck Woods Country Club and Colington Harbour so bring your best poster ideas. To celebrate the end of our summer league swimming season, we will be having pizza and desserts. We are asking for a donation of 3 dollars from each swimmer. Please turn this in to Coach Laura, Lori Roach, or Debbie Gibbs by Tuesday, July 20.

The weather has really made it hard on our practice schedule. Next week beginning Monday, July 19, we will be practicing at the inside pool at the YMCA. This will help us prepare for the final meet the following week.

Reminder: Y-Waves Summer Swim Team Practice begins on Monday, June 7th at the Outdoor Pool!
6-7 p.m. for ages 10 & under
7-8 p.m. For ages 11 & up

YMCA Norfolk Meet Cancelled

Aquatics’ Directors at both the OBX and Norfolk YMCA have decided to cancel the swim meet scheduled for Saturday, April 4th. Swimmers’ attendance and volunteer help was so low that they could not effectively run the meet.
