Welcome to Week 23! Happy Valentine's Week!
Dear Swimmers
and Parents,
We hope to make this week a lot of fun for
everyone. For those who are tapering for the B/C Championships, the week will be
spent in preparation to swim your personal best on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Among some of the objectives we will be focusing on this week will be swimming
fast,short distances, timed starts and timed turns. Some of the distances we
have been swimming have been less than 12 meters! The children love it, but it
is one method of teaching them to sprint at top speed when needed. It prepares
them for the initial part of the race! as well as a great finish. As always,
your swimmer's technique in each stroke will be addressed as part of our
dedication to excellence at the OBX SC.
For those who were able to attend Friday's practice, it was a great water polo match to watch. Even the young swimmers were able to grasp the rules of the game and had a great competitive team experience. For any parent who would like to join in the fun, the invitation is open. It is a great way to get some exercise while playing a fast paced game. We hope to make this a part of Friday's practice whenever possible.
At the present time, warm up time is for the Friday session of the B/C Championship is:
4:30PM-5:30PM
General warm up time for Saturday and Sunday is:
AM Session-7:30AM and PM Session-12:30PM.
Please check the bulletin board at the Y and our website as the times for Saturday and Sunday may become more specific as we get more information from the meet director.

4:30. Fridays in Fitness Room B at 4:30PM. Senior meeting and tapes will be held
Thursday @ 4:30 PM in the YMCA meeting room. Wear appropriate work out clothes
and shoes. Journals are now due on Mondays. Core positions to be done
nightly, if not done in practice. Junior Elite 2 and Senior parents, please
ask your child if they have completed their positons daily. If done at home, it
will take no longer than 10 minutes.

remember to bring the following to practice:
Goggles- you might invest in
an extra pair, just in case!
Cap-girls at p! ractice, everyone at meets
Fins- all groups
Paddles- all groups who ordered should bring them to
practice
Water or sports drink- Accelerade, Endurox, (o! nly found at GNC or
internet) Gatorade
