Team Picture Day / October 10, 2005

Swim Team Picture Day is Monday, October 10th @ 5:00 p.m.
(Jr. Prep, Junior Elite 2, & Senior practice sessions will be cancelled. / Junior & Junior Elite 1 will have practice following photos)

Location for team pictures: Nags Head public beach access at East Bonnett St. and old beach road – photos taken on the beach.
Take the road next to Dowdy's Amusement Park across to the beach road and park in the large parking lot on the beach. In case of rain - photo will be taken at the YMCA indoor pool.

What to Wear: Your team swim suit (no cap).
Changing room/restroom is available at beach access. Please arrive a few minutes early.

Payment: Package pricing and order form is in your swimmer's folder at the YMCA.
On picture day: Please bring a check payable to: A Photo Moment and provide the photographer with your order & payment. Cash payments - please have exact change.

Rule Changes for Breast and Backstroke

FINA has made some changes to the rules of swimming and USA Swimming has adopted the changes.  The new rules will now allow the following:

• Breaststroke - you are now allowed one downward butterfly kick at the start and each turn after your pull and before your first breaststroke kick.
• Backstroke - you are now allowed to start with your toes out of the water but you cannot curl your toes over the lip of the pool.

Welcome to Week 4!!!!

We are continuing to learn and practice new drills while reviewing the old ones. If you get a chance, ask Kaitlyn Godsey how the clinic with Olympic Champion, Kaitlin Sandeno, went on Saturday. It looks like she had a great time!!! Please check your folders and the bulletin board for meet information. All Senior, Junior Elite 1+2 swimmers please remember your journals are due on Fridays and Sundays. Coach Amanda and I are really enjoying the feedback from practices and other thoughts you might have.

Our first meet of the season is almost here.  The Meet Invitation and the Meet Entry Fee report have been posted.   Twenty five swimmers have signed up for this meet.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Welcome to Week 3!!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and survived Ophelia!! Amanda, Rob and I hope to get back to a regular schedule after missing practice due to the storm. We are glad to see so many signed up for the ODAC meet!! We are enjoying the journal comments- keep up the good work.

Senior Dryland begins Sept.20

Dry land begins tomorrow, September 20th: 1 mile run. Meet at Beach Access/Public Parking - Huron on old beach road at 4:30pm. If you need ride, I will be at the YMCA coaching Jr Prep until 4:25.

Welcome to Week 2!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I returned from Ft Lauderdale late Saturday after attending The American Swim Coaches World Clinic. It was great to see past Olympians and their coaches.

I was really excited to see those who attended the Sunday "Race" practice (Junior Elites and Seniors). I am especially proud of those who brought their journals and comments. They are great for me to read and find out what you are thinking!

Remember this week to make sure that you order a team suit and equipment recommended for your practice group. Also, if you are planning to go to the first meet it is time to sign up. See me or Coach Amanda if you have questions.
