OBX SC Long Course Update

Thanks to all who made our long course season so successful! We had a total of eighteen visitors this summer season and many have promised to return. Our swimmers met new friends and will probably continue those friendships during the short course season in Virginia or when those swimmers make other visits to the Outer Banks.

Regretfully, this is the last week of practice. I want to thank everyone, again, who helped with organizing the season. We wish Henry Roach well as he heads to the Long Course Age Group Championships on Friday, July 30! Good luck and see you next summer or when we begin our short course season September 6.

Summer Awards Meet held at Midtown Aquatics in Newport News

Congratulations to our swimmers that participated in the Summer Awards Meet.  Our team had some great swims and even enjoyed a little down time at Busch Gardens. 

 

Registration for 2005-2006 Season

Hope you are having a great summer!  Practice for the 2005-2006 season will begin on Tuesday September 6th.

The 2005-2006 Registration Packet is now available.  You can download the packet here or find it under our Team Information section on the left menu bar. 

You can also find the Practice Schedule and Practice Group Assignments for returning swimmers.

Completed registration material, annual registration fee and first month's dues are needed by August 15th to secure your position on the team.  Open registration begins on August 16th and it will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Registration and Tryouts for 2005-2006 Season

Don't miss this opportunity...groups are expected to fill soon!!

Tuesday, August 16th 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 31st 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 1st 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: Outer Banks Family YMCA Indoor Pool

All members of OBX Swim Club will be required to also be members of the Outer Banks Family YMCA. Once a swimmer has completed a tryout, YMCA membership will need to be confirmed prior to swim team registration.

2005-2006 Swim Season

The new 2005-2006 season for the Outer Banks Swim Team is almost here.  We will have details at the Outer Banks Summer Swim League Championships this Saturday at the YMCA.  The meet starts at 11:00 and we hope to see you there.

Long Course Update:

Andrew Diaz places 16th in VA Senior Long Course Championship Meet

Henry Roach makes a Junior Olympic Qualifying Cut

It has been a busy couple weeks for the OBX SC long couse swimmers. After traveling to UVA for the Senior Long Course Championships, the rest of the team participated in the Region 1 Summer Awards in Newport News, VA. Those that participated were Tyler Daughtry, Kaitlyn Godsey, Drew Keenan, Hilarey Nestch ( who swam a BB time in 200 breaststroke), Henry Roach, Jon Roach, and Arielle Pickrel.

We are looking forward to try-out dates for new and some returning swimmers. We also wish Henry well as he travels to Hargrave Military Academy to compete in the Virginia Age Group Championship Meet on July 29-31!

Warm up Schedule for Summer Awards Meet

The Summer Awards Meet starts this Friday at the Midtown Aquatics Center.  Our warm up schedule is as follows:

    Friday AM Session - Lane 7 from 7:30 - 8:00

    Friday PM Session - Lane 6 from 1:10 - 1:35

    Saturday AM Session - Lane 8 from 7:30 - 8:00

    Saturday PM Session - Lane 8 from 1:25 - 1:50

    Sunday AM Session - Lane 8 from 7:30 - 8:00

    Sunday PM Session - Lane 8 from 2:10 - 2:35

OBX SC Long Course Update

I hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoyed seeing the fire works on the 4th of July. We had a special red, white, and blue practice on the 4th complete with carrying our nation's flag through the water.

We have continued to have many visitors for our long course practices. Some have even stayed for more than a week! This week we have had visitors from Richmond, VA (NOVA), Lake Erie, PA ( Lake Erie Silver Dolphins), Virginia Beach, VA (TAC), Arizona, Columbia, MD, and Greenville, NC (GSC). It has continued to be challenging, yet fun for all, to make new friends and swim with others. Many have promised to come back again. I look forward to seeing them next summer or on another vacation.

We wish Andrew Diaz the best of luck as he heads to UVA for the Virginia Senior Long Course Championships this coming weekend- July 8-10. We hope he has some great races as he finishes his career with the OBX SC and heads to the Naval Academy Prep School very soon.
