2004-2005 Short Course Meet Calendar

The new calendar is herefor the 2004-2005 short course season.

Dear Parents, Swimmers, and Fans of OBX Swim Club and the YMCA Waves,

I want to thank everyone for all the hard work it took to have such a successful meet Monday. I was proud of all the swimmers on each team. I am really looking forward to next summer!!

For those of you who are not familiar with our year round program, I invite you to call me and/or attend our Registration and New Swimmer Evaluation Nights scheduled for August 25th from 5-6 p.m. and August 26th from 7-8 p.m. at the YMCA. Team t-shirts will be available for purchase (lots of sizes for parents too!) and team suit/equipment orders will be taken. Returning Swimmers will complete general registration.

Registration Packets can be printed and filled out in advance. Both new and returning swimmers must complete his/her paperwork before beginning practice on Tuesday, September 7th.

Our Short Course Meet Calendar will be finalized and posted by the end of next week.

The Y Waves are hosting the Summer League Championship Swim Meet on Monday July 26th at the Outer Banks Family YMCA. Warm-ups start at 3:00pm and the meet starts at 4:30pm. Hope to see you there.

North Carolina Eastern Long Course Junior Olympic Qualifier

The OBX Sharks will be represented in the JO Qualifier on July 24th and 25th in Goldsboro NC. The Goldsboro Family YMCA and the Raleigh Swimming Association North will be hosting the meet at the Goldsboro YMCA indoor 50 meter pool. Swimmers that achieve qualifying times will be eligible to swim in the NCS Age Group Junior Olympics in High Point NC.

Outer Banks Summer Swim League Championship Meet on Monday, July 26th at the Outer Banks Family YMCA

The Y Waves will host the Outer Banks Summer Swim League Championship Meet on Monday July 26. The meet will be held at the indoor pool. Warm ups begin at 3:00 and the meet will begin at 4:30.

Warm up schedules:

Y Waves - 3:00 to 3:30

Colington Harbor - 3:30 to 4:00

Duck Woods Country Club - 4:00 to 4:30

News from Coach Laura

I hope everyone had a great time at the meet on Monday. I was very proud of all our swimmers! It looks like all the hard work at the pool has paid off!! Thanks to all the parents who helped, too. Ribbons can be picked up at practice on Thursday, July 15.

Our end of the season party will be on Thursday, July 22 at 6:00 PM. We will be making posters for the meet coming up on Monday, July 26 with Duck Woods Country Club and Colington Harbour so bring your best poster ideas. To celebrate the end of our summer league swimming season, we will be having pizza and desserts. We are asking for a donation of 3 dollars from each swimmer. Please turn this in to Coach Laura, Lori Roach, or Debbie Gibbs by Tuesday, July 20.

The weather has really made it hard on our practice schedule. Next week beginning Monday, July 19, we will be practicing at the inside pool at the YMCA. This will help us prepare for the final meet the following week.
